Gunns plans to close the Scottsdale softwood sawmill in Tasmania within 4 months, with progressive decommissioning of the mill, including disposal of inventory and assets, company said in a statement received by Lesprom Network. Gunns has assessed the softwood sawlog volume available to the Scottsdale mill, as well as the mill’s operating cost structure, as unviable in both the short and long-term and unsustainable as a continuing business.
