Harry Freeman and Son Ltd. lumber mill receives $750,000

Dec 03, 2010. /Lesprom Network/. The province of Nova Scotia has given a $750,000 loan to Harry Freeman and Son Ltd. for their lumber mill in Queens County through their Industrial Expansion Fund, as ForestTalk reported.
Freeman Lumber has put $18 million into modernization overt the last six years to create one of the most efficient and flexible mills in Atlantic Canada while also attaining new quality standards to allow them to expand outside of North America.
“The province’s assistance with financing this fully secured, repayable, interest-bearing loan demonstrates its confidence in our business and the many good full-time jobs it represents,” said Richard Freeman, co-owner. “Our company is 175 years old, one of the oldest family-run businesses in Nova Scotia.”
120 people are employed at the lumber mill.
