Koriukivka Industrial Paper Factory in Chernihiv region, Ukraine, in January and February 2009 produced 8,265 conventional pieces of wallpaper (4,630 standard rolls), which is 29.1% less year-on-year, as Interfax-Ukraine informed Lesprom Network. In February 2009, the factory cut production by 4% compared to January 2009, to 4,050 conventional pieces of wallpaper (2,270 standard rolls). Over the two months 2009, production in monetary terms fell by 12%, to UAH 73.52 million ($9 million), while in January a rise in the figure was seen yea-over-year. In January and February 2009, total production in Ukraine fell by 27.9% compared to January and February 2008, to 16,660 conventional pieces of wallpaper (in January a 34.1% fall was seen to January 2008). Thus, the share of the factory in total production of wallpaper in January and February was some 50%, while in January 2009 it exceeded 62% (in 2008 it was around 50%). The factory produces many kinds of wallpaper, including washable, duplex, vinyl and acrylic wallpaper. It has over 1,200 designs sold under the Slovianski Shpalery trademark. Its production capacity is about 60 million rolls a year, which substantially exceeds domestic market demand. The factory is Europe's largest wallpaper producer, and exports 75% of its produce to Russia, Belarus, Moldova, the Baltic countries, Central Asia, and Eastern and Central Europe. The company in 2008 produced 86.174 million conventional pieces of wallpaper (48.26 million standard rolls), which is 3.5% more year-on-year. Last year, production grew by 37.1%, to UAH 619.35 million ($77 million).
