Sep 14, 2010. /Lesprom Network/. Kyahwood Forest Products reopened September 10. The Kyahwood sawmill near Moricetown, British Columbia, Canada, has been idle for almost two years. The closure was blamed on poor lumber conditions, as ForestTalk reported. The reopening is thanks to the Moricetown Band and a consortium of 5 lending institutions. The mill produces finger-joint studs with blocks supplied by Canfor. The mill is now equipped with a new scanner optimizer that will replace a labour-intensive system in which workers had to examine each block individually. 35 people are employed at the mill.
