Mr. Hughes has had a distinguished legal career as a member of Lang Michener LLP for the past 28 years and is recognized for his expertise in commercial, corporate finance and forestry law. He acted as lead counsel for West Fraser in a series of acquisitions over the past decade, including the recent acquisition of a major sawmill business in the Southern U.S. West Fraser is a major forest products company with operations in British Columbia, Alberta and the Southern United States. The company employs over 9 000 people and produces lumber, panels, pulp and paper. West Fraser shares trade on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
