May 06, 2004. /Lesprom Network/. Pulp prices are gradually on the rise in Europe, Foex NBSK basic price index increased 14,2% within 4 months by May, 4, Archbum deputy-CEO told Lesprom.ru.
BHKP index (hardwood pulp) increased 9,3% (in USD) during the same period, the growth in EUR was 14,4%.
According to Utilpulp European commodity pulp consumers’ group, pulp consumption in Western Europe in March reached its 12-month maximum. The consumers aim at replacing softwood pulp by cheaper hardwood pulp. Paper prices (in EUR) remained on the prior level since the beginning of the year, declined 5-10% in USD.
