Mar 19, 2014. /Lesprom Network/. Ulf Larsson, President of SCA Forest Products, inaugurated SCA Timber
Supply’s new plant at Melton on Humberside, in the company of guests and senior
management from SCA Timber AB and SCA Timber Supply UK. Some 32 new jobs
have so far been created at the site, with the potential for more to come this
summer, as the company said in the press release received by Lesprom Network.
SCA’s Melton wood processing plant receives its timber from SCA’s
importing hub on the King George Dock at Hull, which the company
opened in 2005. Approximately 50,000 cubic metres of wood will be processed
annually through SCA Melton, going into the supply chains of the company’s
builders’ merchant and joinery production customers.
SCA Melton is one of three UK locations operated
by SCA Timber Supply UK, the others being
its Welshpool, Powys, plant, which also services the builders’ merchant sector
and its headquarters in Stoke-on-Trent, from which it
services the DIY sector with wood products. SCA Timber Supply in the UK has 220 employees
across its three sites.
