Nov 24, 2011. /Lesprom Network/. The Sampson Group now owns just less than 50% of the Harmac pulp mill in Nanaimo, British Columbia, giving the Sampson family the controlling share of the mill. The employees own 25% of the mill, and Pioneer Log Homes owns a little more than 25%, as ForestTalk reported. Harmac president Levi Sampson said his family invested heavily in Harmac through convertible debentures shortly after Nanaimo Forest Products, a partnership led by Harmac workers, bought the mill out of receivership in 2008. Previously the mill was owned by Pope & Talbot.
