Temple-Inland announces preliminary impact of hurricane Rita

Temple-Inland operations affected by hurricane Rita include the containerboard mill in Orange, Texas; lumber mills in Diboll, Pineland and Buna, Texas and DeQuincy, Louisiana; a fiberboard mill and particleboard mill in Diboll, Texas; 30 Texas banking centers; and company owned timberlands in Texas and Louisiana. The company is in the process of assessing the impact of the hurricane.
There were no reported injuries to employees due to the storm. The containerboard mill and forest products facilities suffered minimal wind damage and key manufacturing equipment was not impacted. The Orange containerboard mill and Pineland, Buna and DeQuincy lumber mills are currently without power. The company is working with suppliers to restore power in order to resume full operations. The Diboll, Texas forest products facilities are operating at normal levels. Fiber supply to Temple-Inland's mills is not anticipated to be interrupted. Most banking centers suffered only minor wind damage and have now reopened. The company continues to help its employees and communities recover from Hurricane Rita.
