Latvia increased timber imports 28.9% to LVL 246.742 million ($131.245 million) in 2004 compared to 2003. 42.5% of the total amount of imports of timber pproducts were timber and related goods worth LVL 112.21 million ($59.9 million). The costs of imported timber products increased 85.9% to LVL 54.2 million ($28.8 million), round timber – up 85.2% to LVL 26.4 million ($14 million). The costs of imported particleboard – up 26.4% to LVL 8.9 million ($4.7 million), hardboard – up 27% to LVL 7 million ($3.7 million). 43.3% of the total imports of timber products were paper and cardboard worth LVL 106.85 million ($56.8 million). The costs of furniture imports increased 1.1% to LVL 26.2 million ($13.9 million).
