Mar 23, 2011. /Lesprom Network/. VIDA is closing its sawmill at Bello and transferring the production to its nearby Hjältevad mill in Sweden, as TTJ reported. An extra shift will be added at Hjältevad to cope with the extra 55,000 cubic metres output, bringing the mill’s total sawn timber volume to 240,000 cubic metres. VIDA CEO Santhe Dahl said that Bello had not received any investment in its sawmilling facility for a while. Hjältevad, he added, had seen an investment of about SEK 200 million ($31.7 million) in the past two years. “We cannot invest competitively in two so similar facilities,” he said. Bello’s planing and drying operations will continue to operate, with planing output possibly to be increased.
