Billerud announced on July 25, 2007 that company’s net sales reached SEK 1.88 billion ($279.7 million) in second quarter 2007 compared to SEK 1.84 billion ($273.7 million) in the second quarter of 2006. Operating profit totalled SEK 17 million ($2.5 million) compared to SEK 107 million ($15.9 million) a year before. Net losses in the second quarter 2007 were SEK 9 million ($1.3 million) versus net income of SEK 61 million ($9.1 million) in the second quarter 2006. Loss per share was SEK 0.17 ($0.0253) versus profit per share of SEK 1.18 ($0.1757) a year before. In January-June 2007 net turnover was SEK 3.82 billion ($568.7 million) compared to SEK 3.6 billion ($536.0 million) in January-June 2006. Net profit was SEK 98 million ($14.6 million), up from SEK 93 million ($13.8 million) in first half 2006. Operating profit increased by 13% and reached SEK 194 million ($28.9 million) compared to SEK 171 million ($25.5 million) a year before. Earnings per share were SEK 1.91 ($0.2845) versus SEK 1.81 ($0.2696) in the first half 2006. The market situation and demand remained very good with price increases for all products. Prices for raw materials, especially wood, continue to rise. Outlook In 2007 the market is expected to remain good for the rest of the year with opportunities for further price increases in local currencies. The prices for wood continued to increase during the second quarter and further price increases have been announced, which will have an impact in the second half of the year, thus further increasing costs for wood supply.
