China is interested in importing wood products from Brazil, especially bamboo produced in the regions of the Amazon river in the northern state of Acre, Chinese ambassador to Brazil, Jiang Yaunde, said. According to Jiang Yaunde, the Chinese Government is working to strengthen the trade relations between the two countries. The ambassador met with Senator Tiao Viana of the ruling Workers Party to define the details over the next official Chinese visit at end-May 2005. The mission will visit Brazil to discuss with the authorities new opportunities for the signing of economic and trade agreements. Another proof of the heated relations between the two countries is the visit of aother Chinese mission, started on April 11, 2005, which will study the production of ethanol, an alcohol extracted from the sugar cane and used as fuel in Brazil. The visit will take place within the scope of a memorandum of understanding that was signed by the governments of the two countries and foresees the exchange of technical information, with the aim of promoting investments and bilateral trade in the sector.
