Jan 17, 2006. /Lesprom Network/. The Czech Republic's paper and cardboard production has increased by more than 25% since 1999 to a forecast 980 000 tonnes for 2005. Czech pulp and paper products output also marked a considerable rise in the last six years. The country's 2005 paper exports have been estimated at 730 000 tonnes, while imports are seen at between 1.0 - 1.1 million tonnes. The average annual paper consumption in the Czech Republic is forecast at 133 kg per capita for 2005, compared to 84 kg per capita for 1999. The Czech Republic's paper production increased 4.0% year-on-year to 740 000 tonnes for the first nine months of 2005. Pulp output rose 2.0% to 568 000 tonnes, while paper products output climbed 20% to 387 500 tonnes for the period. The paper and pulp industry accounts for 1.7% of the Czech GDP.
