Nov 04, 2014. /Lesprom Network/. National Risk Assessments (NRAs) have recently been approved by FSC International for Belgium and Denmark. NRAs for Belgium and Denmark were approved by FSC International on 20 October 2014. The NRAs were developed by chamber-balanced working groups in each country and were previously approved at the national level after consultation with stakeholders, as FSC said in the press release received by Lesprom Network.

The Belgian NRA was conducted for all forest types across the whole country and divided according to the country’s Flemish, Walloon and Brussels regions. The Assessment found low risk for all five Controlled Wood categories in all regions, except for category 4 (conversion) for the Flemish region. Taking a precautionary approach, the working group assessed conflicting data on forest-cover change in that region and decided that the relevant indicator for this category had not been met.

The NRA for Denmark also evaluated all forest types for the whole country, but not for Greenland. The Assessment was made for all Controlled Wood categories except for category 3. The Assessment designated low risk for these for whole area that was assessed.
