Harris Group International Design and Construction signed an agreement on the design of the business plan of Segezhsky reconstruction and modernization, Segezhsky spokesperson told Lesprom.ru. The preparation of the project took almost 1 year. The business plan will be designed for 1.5 years. The expected result is the economically and technically justified project of the modernization of the enterprise. The project includes the full reconstruction of the timber-preparation workshop, boiling facility-3 and paper machine-9 modernization, the construction of an enterprise to produce bleached market pulp. The modernization project aims at increasing pulp production volume to 550 thousand thousand tons/yr by 2008, bleached market pulp production steady organization. Segezhsky has the capacity to produce 414 thousand tons of sulphate pulp/yr, 330 thousand kraft-paper and kraft-liner, more than 582 million paper bags. The mentioned measures were included in the strategic development plan designed by Segezhsky experts together with Jakko Poyry in 2002. Jakko Poyry experts will also participate in the business plan design. The strategic development plan initiated the signature of a trilateral agreement on May, 19 2003 in Saint-Petersburg on the fulfillment of a major investment project between Sberbank Russia, Karelia Republic government and Segezhsky. The document envisaged investments in production modernization and development on Segezhsky worth EUR 410 million. The first stage of reconstruction finished in 2004 cost EUR 100 million included the modernization of the intermittent pulp boiling line, sorting and washing sections on pulp machine-4 and the modernization of PM-10. The following projects were designed by Harris Group International Design and Construction.
