Oct 20, 2005. /Lesprom Network/. Italian agriculture and forest sector staff on the Italian island of Sicily will go on a strike on November 4, 2005, it was reported on October 19, 2005. The strike is organised by trade unions Fai-Cisl, Flai-Cgil and Uila-Uil and workers will protest against the jobless rate level fixed in the 2005 budget. After a one-year postponement, the unemployment level ordinance is to enter in force as from January 1, 2006. Members of the trade union will also join a strike on November 25, 2005 to protest against the 2006 budget. A total 3.4 million working hours were lost due to strikes from January to June 2005, up by 19% from the corresponding period of 2004, data by Italy's National Statistics Institute ISTAT showed. Of the total working hours lost over the period, 50.2% were lost on conflicts related to the renewal of collective labour agreements.
