Neenah Paper becomes Wisconsin's largest purchaser of renewable energy
Sep 19, 2006. Neenah Paper becomes Wisconsin's largest purchaser of renewable energy and joins U.S. EPA's distinguished green power partnership.
Sep 19, 2006. /Lesprom Network/. Neenah Paper has become the largest purchaser of green power in the entire state of Wisconsin and has been named to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) distinguished green power partnership. The partnership recognizes organizations for exemplary green power purchases. U.S. EPA green power partnership program director, Matt Clouse, will be present to honor Neenah Paper for its commitment to using renewable energy.
As a member of EPA's green power partnership, Neenah Paper demonstrates its ongoing commitment to using alternative energies and has pledged to replace a portion of its electricity consumption with green power. The purchase of more than 10 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of renewable energy qualifies Neenah Paper for membership in the partnership and makes the company the largest purchaser of renewable power in the entire state of Wisconsin.
Green power comes from renewable sources such as wind, solar, low-impact hydro and biomass. Renewable resources have little to no impact on the environment and produce no net greenhouse gas emissions in generating electricity.
The environmental benefit of Neenah Paper's renewable power purchase is equal to reducing the CO2 emissions associated with the combustion of 1,037,754 gallons of gasoline. This is the equivalent of reducing the emissions associated with the conventional electricity needed to power nearly 11% of residential household units in Neenah, Wisconsin.
