Some producers are fighting the price increase, however no confrontation has been witnessed yet. The majority of leading producers registered the increase of 5-8% in prices in April 2004. In Germany some average prices increased by EUR 10-20, as well as the marking also increased. In spite of a slight improvement, many suppliers are still alert. According to the latest info published by CEPIFINE, paper with wooden covering transportation in Europe increased 5,5% to 1,764 million tons within 3 months in Europe compared with the prior period in 2003. Another price growth of EUR 30-50 per ton is highly possible, however the suppliers are confident to raise prices above the prior month’s level.
