Feb 17, 2012. /Lesprom Network/. Södra proposes dividends of SEK 436 million, as the company said in a press release received by Lesprom Network
"The market has been tough in 2011. However, Södra's profit for the year and its balance sheet allow us to propose to the Annual General Meeting a transfer to members of a total of SEK 436 million ($65 million). This proposal is equivalent to 44% of our profit," said Christer Segerstéen, Chairman of the Board at Södra.
"The Södra model will reward those members who choose to supply all their timber to Södra in the long term and hence participate fully in our cooperation. This principle is what characterises this proposal, which means that around half of the dividends will be based on timber supplies," added Segerstéen.
"Despite a challenging market for its products this year, Södra has also been able to justify a fairly good price level for timber during 2011. Together with the proposal for the distribution of dividends, this paves the way for good profitability for forests owned by members," concluded Segerstéen.
Södra is a forestry cooperative based in Växjö, Sweden. It has 50,000 members in Southern Sweden and both operates in its members forests and owns processing plants.
