Jan 13, 2010. /Lesprom Network/. Södra is increasing the price of its hard pulpwood by SEK 25 ($3.5) per cubic meter fub (solid volume excluding bark). The price increase, valid until further notice, means Södra will now pay SEK 300 ($42.5) per cubic meter for cleanly-sorted birch pulpwood, SEK 265($37.5) per cubic meter for birch included in hard pulpwood and SEK 225 ($32) per cubic meter for other hard pulpwood, the company said in a press release received by Lesprom Network.
“To meet current demand for birch pulpwood we need to top up our inventory. We hope to contract an additional 200,000 cubic meters as a result of the price increase. Through the price rise we also want to stimulate activity in hardwood forest management. Therefore we’d like to encourage forest owners to take advantage of this opportunity and make the most of the favourable weather conditions we now have for harvesting,” says Södra director of forestry, Urban Eriksson.
