Due to continuing cost increases for its raw material input costs, Sappi Europe faced a major squeeze of its operational margins for its speciality grades during recent months, the company said in a press release received by Lesprom Network. Increased efficiency and cost reduction measures were proactively implemented but proved to be insufficient to offset the steep increase in costs. Against this background Sappi will implement a price increase for Flexible packaging, Label papers and Release Liner grades by 5 to 7%. New prices will be effective for deliveries as of February 1, 2010.
