Nov 25, 2013. /Lesprom Network/. Södra Interiör has decided to build a new shared logistics centre in Sweden. It will be located in Strömsnäsbruk and will replace most of the current warehouses. The aim of this initiative is to streamline and improve service to the Swedish and Danish markets and to enhance the competitiveness of Södra Interiör, as the company said in the press release received by Lesprom Network.

The logistics centre will be sited in Strömsnäsbruk, next to the E4, and cover an area of around 28,000 square metres. The objective is to complete procurement of the construction work by 1 February 2014 and for construction to begin in the spring of 2014. It is estimated that the logistics centre will be commissioned and completed in the summer of 2015.

The logistics centre is a strategic initiative which will facilitate more efficient distribution of products in southern Sweden and Denmark. This investment will result in both financial and environmental benefits as the overall need for transport will be reduced as the load fill level increases. The work environment will also be enhanced as the new logistics centre will be modern and better suited to the needs of the business. The premises which are currently used for storage in Kallinge will be freed up for production development once the new logistics centre is in use.

"The new logistics centre in Strömsnäsbruk is a large and vital component for our future. Logistics and distribution are important competitive tools, helping us to become a more attractive partner for our customers. We have a number of warehouses at present which we will now be replacing with just one. This will be considerably more cost-effective, and we will be able to offer our customers an improved service by collating most of our range of products in a single location," commented Ulf Edman, President of Södra Interiör.

Södra Interiör previously invested in a new central warehouse in Brumunddal, to the north of Oslo in Norway.
