Spanish Iberpapel 1H 2006 net profit down 41% year-on-year

Aug 30, 2006. /Lesprom Network/. Spanish paper company Iberpapel SA, posted a net profit of Euro 3.9 million in the first half of 2006, down 41% year-on-year, according to La Bolsa. The decline was attributed mainly to increasing energy prices. Iberpapel expects higher paper prices from September 2006 to offset the negative results.
The company's turnover in the first half of 2006 increased by 4.1% to Euro 82.7 million, of which paper sales generated Euro 79.2 million, up 2.7%. Iberpapel's timber sales in January-June 2006 rose to Euro 933 000 from Euro 292 000 in January-June 2005, and the remainder came from electricity sales, up 25.9%.
