ST. PETERSBURG, Feb 27 /Prime-TASS/ -- Russia’s timber processing complex Syktyvkar, located in the constituent republic of Komi, is expected to keep its investments into facility upgrades at U.S. $42 million in 2002, unchanged on the year, a company official told Prime-TASS Wednesday. The Syktyvkar timber processing complex is one of the largest paper producers in Russia. The company plans to finance the upgrades this year from its own funds. Between 1997 and 2001, the company invested a total of $217 million of its own money, and attracted additional funds into upgrading. The company’s paper output in money terms rose 24% on the year in 2001 to 8.267 billion rubles. In terms of volume, 2001 production rose 13% on the year to 626,400 tonnes, including 485,800 tonnes of paper, up 9% on the year, and 130,900 tonnes of cartons, up 31% on the year. Syktyvkar plans to increase its output by 3.7% this year, to 650,000 tonnes. Russian inflation was 18.6% in 2001. /30.8949 rubles – U.S. $1/
