US kraft bag-paper supplies declined 4,8% to 132,4 thousand tons in February 2004 compared with January 2004 (139,1 thousand tons), American Timber Industry Association reported. Kraft paper supplies within 2 months in 2004 increased 2,8% to 271,5 thousand tons compared with the prior period in 2003. Non-bleached kraft paper supplies declined to 113,4 thousand tons from 119,5 thousand tons in January 2004. Bleached kraft paper supplies were 19 thousand tons in February (remained at the prior period level at 19,6 thousand tons). Paper bags supplies declined 5,2% to 54,6 thousand tons in January 2004 compared with the prior period in 2003. Paper bags supplies within 2 months increased 5,8% compared with the prior period in 2003. The demand for fiber-containing paper in North America increased, imports declined.
