Oct 09, 2006. /Lesprom Network/. Brazilian pulp and paper company Aracruz and its Swedish-Finnish partner Stora Enso should decide on plans to double capacity at its joint venture Veracel, a pulp plant located in the south of Brazil's northeastern state of Bahia, early next year, AE Brazil reported citing Aracruz chief financial executive Isac Zagury.
The two companies are conducting feasibility studies for the possible construction of a second production line.
In the third quarter, Veracel produced 261 000 tonnes of bleached eucalyptus pulp, setting a new record.
"Veracel reached annualized production of 962 000 tonnes, above its nominal capacity (of 900 000 tonnes per year)," Mr. Zagury said.
