Boise Cascade building new distribution center on Gulf Coast

Boise Building Materials Distribution (BBMD), a division of Boise Cascade, LLC, announced on November 2 that it is building a new distribution center in Milton, Florida, near Pensacola. BBMD is a wholesale distributor of a large variety of building materials serving pro dealers and do-it-yourself retailers in the United States. With this new facility, BBMD will have 30 locations across the U.S. Construction of an 80 000-square-foot warehouse has begun on the 27-acre site. The site is located near major truck transportation corridors including Interstate 10 and will be rail served. Completion and start-up is scheduled for late in the first quarter 2007.
According to Stan Bell, senior vice president of BBMD, the new facility and BBMD associates will serve a strong market, driven by the rebuilding needed after hurricane Katrina and the significant development taking place in the Florida panhandle. Mr. Bell said, "We look forward to bringing our unique, local market focus and service capabilities to customers in the area."
Boise, headquartered in Boise, Idaho, manufactures engineered wood products, plywood, lumber, and particleboard and distributes a broad line of building materials, including wood products manufactured by the company. Boise also manufactures a wide range of specialty and premium products, including imaging papers for the office and home and papers for pressure sensitive applications, as well as printing and converting papers, containerboard and corrugated boxes, newsprint, and market pulp.
