Boise Cascade curtails operations at sawmills in Oregon and Washington

May 01, 2009. /Lesprom Network/. Boise Cascade will curtail operations at its sawmill in La Grande, Ore., and its Kettle Falls, Wash., small log mill, as Random Lengths informed Lesprom Network. The La Grande sawmill is expected to cease operations by the end of June, once it has run through its existing log inventory. The Kettle Falls small log mill is expected to curtail in early May.
A company press release called the moves "extended curtailments." "We don't know when these operations might come back up again, but it is not anytime in the foreseeable future," spokesman Steve Lyon said in the release.
Boise Cascade manufactures engineered wood products, plywood, lumber, and particleboard and distributes a broad line of building materials, including wood products manufactured by the company.
