CR Taylor to maintain Bradford site
Nov 17, 2008. /Lesprom.com/. A Yorkshire timber firm CR Taylor Timber Ltd which was considering closing one of its sites due to a lack of demand has made a u-turn after an outcry from customers.
Nov 17, 2008. /Lesprom.com/. CR Taylor, which is headquartered in Denholme near Bradford, was considering closing its Thornton Road outlet near the centre of Bradford, Yorkshire Post reported. But opposition from customers led the 48-year-old family firm to re-evaluate its decision.
There will now be four job losses at the site which employs 13 people. There are 70 staff in total across the two branches.
Sales director Charles Taylor, who is taking over the running of the site, said: "We have decided against mothballing the branch and this has minimised planned redundancies.
"We will continue to ensure our customers receive the best possible service and products.
"We've inevitably seen demand dip like many firms in our sector but CR Taylor is now stronger than ever and we are keen to build on our position as a key supplier and employer."
The firm was seeing a growing demand for engineered timber including roof trusses. "We are feeling positive about the future of the business.
"In recent years we've adapted well to market conditions with innovative decision-making and there is a renewed sense of confidence here that we can face up to whatever the economic conditions throw at us."
Founded in 1960, CR Taylor Timber supplies local and national housebuilders with timber and engineered timber products.
