Canada decreases lumber exports to Japan in April by 9.5% YoY

In April 2018, Canada has decreased lumber exports to Japan by 9.5% year-over-year to 143.9 thousand m3 with average export price has gained 14.7% to US$403 per m3. The share of Canada in Japan lumber imports slipped by 1.6 pp to 29.5%.  Lumber supplies from Finland to Japan have dropped 6.1% to 74.9 thousand m3, and average price increased 19.2% to $317 per m3. Russia has increased lumber exports by 3.5% to 67.1 thousand m3 with average price slipped 1.0% to $361 per m3. Lumber supplies from Sweden have grown by 6.1% to 58.0 thousand m3, and price jumped 18.1% to $322 per m3. 

The lumber imports to Japan have decreased 4.5% in April 2018 to 487.2 thousand m3, and the average price for imported lumber has gained 12.8%.
