Apr 05, 2006. /Lesprom Network/. Felling in Latvian forests in 2005 rose by 5% compared to 2004 results to 11.3 million cubic meters, State forest service director general assistant Selva Sulce said. According to Ms. Sulce, logging mainly rose owing to state forests, where felling outturn increased by 0.9 million cubic meters compared to 2004. In 2005 felling outturn in private forests decreased by 0.3 million cubic meters and amounted to 6.5 million cubic meters (57.5% of total volume) compared to 4.8 million cubic meters (42.5%) in state forests.
