Finnforest France acquires a timber upgrading company Gillet

Dec 04, 2007. /Lesprom Network/. Finnforest improves its possibilities to serve DIY and merchant customers in France and at the Iberian Peninsula by acquiring Gillet S.A., based in Casteljaloux, South-Western France, company announced.
“Finnforest will now be able to offer its customers a broader product portfolio, more finishing alternatives and better logistical services in France and at the Iberian Peninsula,” says John Tong, head of Upgrading and Distribution Business Line.
“Our long-lasting partnership and Finnforest’s plans for developing the business made Finnforest an ideal partner to lead Gillet to the future,” says Philippe Gillet, the former owner of the company, founded by Edmond Gillet in 1889.

The acquisition agreement was signed on 30 November 2007. As of January 2008, Finnforest France will serve its customers at four sites: Honfleur (head office and distribution center), Boulleville (upgrading facility), Gennevilliers (Building Solutions and Solid Wood sales), and Casteljaloux (sawmill, maritime pine upgrading, distribution center).
