Klabin, the biggest producer, exporter and recycler of paper in Brazil and leading manufacturer of packaging paper and board, corrugated boxes and industrial sacks, as well as selling timber in logs,ended the year of 2011 with an EBITDA of R$ 1,077 million ($598,333) and a margin of 28%, as the company said in a press release received by Lesprom Network. The EBITDA, which represents profits before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization, was the Company’s highest on recordin all of its 112 years of history. In the 4Q of the year, EBITDA was R$ 359 million ($200 million), 30% above the 3Q 2011. Klabin’s sales volume in the 4Q was 432 thousand tons, excluding timber. Total accumulated sales volume for 2011 was 1,739 thousand tons, 1% up over 2010. The net revenue of the Company in the 4Q, including timber sales, came to R$ 994 million ($552 million), 7% above the same period of 2010. In the case of the accumulated amount for 2011, Klabin totaled R$ 3.9 billion ($2 billion) in net revenue, recording 6% growthin comparison with the previous year, which was a reflection of the strategic positioning of its products with a focus on improved margins. In the domestic market, net revenue came to R$ 3,017 million ($1.7 million), 6% above 2010, and represented 78% of the total net revenue for the year, keeping the same proportion as 2010. In keeping with the efforts concentrated on operational and financial performance, unitary cash cost for 4Q 2011 dropped 3% below the previous quarter and 5% below the second quarter of 2011 (excluding the costs with the maintenance shutdown during that quarter), underscoring the results of the company’s cost reduction program, driven by optimization of processes and increase in production efficiency. Klabin’s net profits in the last quarter were R$ 122 million ($67.8 million). Accumulated for the year, net profits were R$ 183 million ($101.7 million).
