Sep 13, 2004. /Lesprom Network/. Russian Onezhsky tractor plant (Karelia Republic) intends to reduce tractors production 39.6% to 500 machines in 2004 compared with the prior period in 2003, Onezhsky spokesperson told Lesprom.ru. The production plans were modified in connection with the results of the first 6 months in 2004. In January-June 2004 Onezhsky reduced tractors production 42.5% to 131 machines compared with the prior period in 2003. Onezhsky public-affairs stressed that the production decline was caused by the lack of a firm sales structure. The sales structure used by the enterprise's former owner Inavtomarket is no longer used. Previously Onezhsky recieved orders from Vologodskie Lesopromishlenniki (Timber Mechants) to produce 28 tractors and the Ministry of emergency situations to produce 60 forest fire-extingushing tractors. Onezhsky is a major regional tractor manufacturer producing timber-felling, timber industry and specialized tractors. The enterprise's majority stake is owned by Traktornye Zavody (Tractor Plants).
