Jun 30, 2005. /Lesprom Network/. Papierfabrik Palm paper machine 6 in Wörth, Germany - the world's largest recycled containerboard machine – is increasing production tonnage by 200 tonnes/day. The current production level gives the mill an annual output of over 500,000 tonnes. The mill’s PM 6, supplied in 2002 by Metso Paper, is producing testliner of 90 to 140 g/m², corrugating medium of 80 to 130 g/m² and Schrenz of 70 to 120 g/m². The quality of all grades produced on PM 6 has been exceptionally good since start-up. This increase comes as a result of an increase in forming capacity made available earlier this year by Metso Paper. In addition, optimization work done by Metso Paper together with Papierfabrik Palm has considerably improved the belt life of the shoe press. Optimization of the production performance for PM 6 is ongoing. In the future, emphasis will be placed on further improving the cleanliness of the drying section and maintaining good runnability at very high speeds and low basis weights. Normal production speed for PM 6 has stabilized at 1150 – 1200 m/min for the most common basis weights (80 –110 g/m²). The top speed reached by PM 6 to date is 1352 m/min. Papierfabrik Palm is one of Europe's most skilled users of recycled fiber with experience dating back to their establishment in 1872. The company employs 700 people in three mills. Production capacity for the company is 820,000 tons of paper for corrugated board and 560,000 tons of graphic paper per year. This production capacity provides the company an annual turnover of Euro 500 million.
