Jan 30, 2013. /Lesprom Network/. Ponsse opened its new Jyväskylä Service Centre in Laukaa, Finland. The new 1,300 square metres facilities guarantee state-of-the-art forest machine services to customers in Central Finland, as the company said in a press release received by Lesprom Network. The construction of the new Jyväskylä Service Centre is one of this year's most important investments for the Ponsse service centre network in Finland. The former facilities were no longer able to respond to the needs of the increased machine base in the region. The number of maintenance agreement customers in the area has grown, which sets new requirements for the flexibility and speed of the services. At the moment, the Jyväskylä region has a machine base of 150 machines; a hundred of these have maintenance agreements. The maintenance agreement includes servicing every 1,200 hours, which means 2.5 times per year on average. The Jyväskylä Service Centre also reconditions used machines. The servicing hall has four spacious service points, one of which is drive-through. Information systems maintenance is being launched with the new facilities. Spare part sales and storage will also have appropriate facilities. The spare parts service level is 95%, which means that nearly all parts are readily available. The rest can be obtained from the Iisalmi central warehouse by the next morning. The plan of the facilities aims to make things easier for the customer. The mobile phone-operated gate allows the machines to be taken into a separate washing hall for defrosting even after closing time. The facilities also have a room where the platform driver may rest while the machine is being serviced. The service centre has geothermal heat pumps with a total of 3.2 kilometres of pipe in 16 holes bored into the ground. The cost of the investment is approximately Euro 2 million. Ponsse's service network investments for this year also include the 40,000 cubic metres logistics centre to be completed in Iisalmi. The logistics centre will also have the central warehouse that serves Ponsse's international service network. Last year's launches included renewed service centres in Tampere and Mikkeli and a new Ponsse service centre in Toivala, Siilinjärvi. “Ponsse's domestic market share was more than 50% last year, calculated based on machines registered. The service network must grow and develop with the machine base and the entrepreneurs' needs,” says Sales and Marketing Director Jarmo Vidgrén from Ponsse.
