Russian Onezhsky tractor plant to reduce tractor production by 40% in 2004

Aug 26, 2004. /Lesprom Network/. Russian Onezhsky tractor plant (Karelia Republic) intends to reduce tractor production by 40% to 400 machines in 2004 compared with the prior period in 2003, corporate spokesperson reported. The production plans were altered by the results registered after the first 6 months in 2004. Tractor production declined 42.5% to 131 machines within 6 months in 2004 compared with the prior period in 2003. According to Onezhsky public-affairs, production boost was affected by the lack of workable sales structure. Onezhsky is no longer using the sales structure used by the former enterprise majority shareholder – Inavtomarket. As reported earlier, Onezhsky received orders from Vologodskie Timber Merchants to produce 28 tractors and 60 forest fire-extinguishing tractors from the Ministry of Emergency Situations. Onezhsky is a major regional tractor manufacturer (timber-felling, timber industry tractors, specialized tractors and machines for related services). Onezhsky majority stake is owned by the Tractor Plants concern (Traktornye Zavodi).
