Segezha Group acquired a full set of equipment for new CLT plant in Sokol, Russia

Segezha Group of Forest Industry Companies (part of Sistema JSFC) has acquired a full range of equipment for future CLT production site in Vologda region, Russia, as the company said in the press release received by Lesprom Network.

Sokol CLT LLC, the new asset of Segezha Group, will be located on the industrial site of Sokol Wood Processing Combine, the leading Russian producer of construction and glulam beams for wooden construction. The capacity of Sokol CLT will reach 35,000 cubic meters of ready products per year. The plant will work in two shifts.

The full plant (more than 90 pieces of equipment) was purchased from Ledinek Co. in Austria.

“In addition to glulam construction beams and glulam beam houses, the enterprise will begin the industrial production of cross-point glulam CLT panels, which are being actively used abroad for construction of multi-storied buildings and individual wooden houses,” said Dmitry Rudenko, Vice President of Segezha Group, and head of the Housing Construction Division. In his words, according to the roadmap, manufacturing of the equipment has already started, the assembly will commence in May 2020, the first test panel will be produced in December 2020, the market entry is expected by early 2021.

Before the equipment arrives onto the site, Sokol CLT will hold the capital repairs of the building where the production facility will be located. According to the prepared reconstruction plan, the building will be expanded, 3,000 square meters will be added. The total area of Sokol CLT Building will be more than 10,000 square meters. For continued supply of raw materials, the region will allocate the economically feasible forest area to the company. The new production facility will help create an additional 50 jobs.

Sokolsky DOK is the leader of wooden construction in Russia. It produces more than 80,000 square meters of these products a year.
