Segezha launched train car scales at its Kharovsky Branch of Kipelovo LCS

First train car scales were launched into operation in Kharovsky Branch of Kipelovo LCS JSC (part of Segezha Group, Sistema JSFC). The scales will allow to increase efficiency in loading train cars with round wood, which is sent to wood-processing and pulp-and-paper enterprises of Segezha Group and third party customers. The scales and their installation cost more than RUB 2 million, as the company says in the press release received by Lesprom Network.

Train car scales are intended for weighing rolling stock with cargo, statically and dynamically, without disconnecting the train cars. The design of the scales includes tensometric sensors. The gross weight is measured truck by truck. The result is automatically reflected on the dispatcher’s computer. Kipelovo LCS has already started shipping forest materials to buyers after measuring the weight using the scale.

Every month the Kharovsky Branch loads 150 train cars every month, which amounts to some 8,500 cubic meters of round wood. Overall, Kipelovo LCS will save RUB 1.5 million a year.

Currently Kipelovo LCS is studying installation of analogous train car scales at other production facilities in the city of Sokol.
