ST. PETERSBURG, January 31, 2002 /from RIA Novosti correspondent Vyacheslav Kalashnikov/ -- The confederation of associations, enterprises and organisations of the North-Western Federal District's timber complex will be established soon in accordance with the decision of participants in the St. Petersburg meeting on the strategy of development of the North-Western timber complex till 2015. The aim of the establishment of the Confederation is to recover the region's positions on the Russian market of pulp and paper products. The participants in the meeting discussed the strategic trends of the development of the North-Western timber industry. The increase in production and wages and the solution of ecological and corporate problems will be the priorities of the industry. The meeting was organised by the Expert Council on Economic Development and Investments, affiliated to the Russian president's plenipotentiary to the North-Western Federal District.
