Nov 19, 2008. /Lesprom.com/. Weyerhaeuser and Lignol Energy Corporation have signed a memorandum of understanding for commercial cellulose fibre and biochemical applications, a report by Biomass Magazine said. The ageement focuses on the exploration of applications such as industrial adhesive or carbon fibre production that would use the cellulose fibre and lignin produced in Lignol’s biorefining process. According to Biomass Magazine, Weyerhaeuser feedstocks are being tested at Lignol’s pilot-scale plant in Burnaby, British Columbia, to assess whether or not the construction of a commercial-scale biorefinery at a Weyerhaeuser mill site is a viable venture.
