The move will take the company's annual production capacity to 550,000 tonnes of recycled paper, 685,000 tons of corrugated boxes, 170,000 tonnes of folding and high graphic pre-printed cartons and 20,000 tonnes of laminated products.
"With this acquisition Gondi continues to diversify its recycled packaging supply to other market segments, with state-of-the-art technology to achieve our dream of becoming the best choice for our current and future customers," said Grupo Gondi's CEO, Eduardo Posada.
According to the CEO, the group also intends to take on all Peosa's 900 employees, in order to maintain operational and business continuity, elevating Gondi's total head count to 5,800 people.
"The next year will be used to consolidate acquisitions, implement synergies and reposition ourselves in the market," Posada commented.
This is the most recent move in the expansion of Grupo Gondi's business, after the unveiling of plans for a new 108,000 tonnes/yr packaging plant in Nava and the acquisition of the Grupo Garze in May 2013. The transaction made Gondi Mexico's second largest recycled paper and corrugated boxes producer, behind only Bio-Papel.
