Södra increases NBSK pulp price in Europe

Södra is increasing the price of its northern bleached softwood kraft (NBSK) pulp to $1,090, effective 1 February. Södra said strong demand is pressuring supply.

“Several factors are influencing the market, including challenging harvesting conditions in Scandinavia due to the mild winter, and strong market conditions in China,” commented Magnus Björkman, VP Marketing and Sales Södra Cell. “However, the predominant driving force behind the current market situation, overriding all others, remains robust demand which continues apace.”

Södra, with headquarters in Vaxjo, Sweden, produces market pulp, wood products and biofuels. The company operates three pulp mills in Sweden (Mörrum, Mönsterås and Värö.) with a total capacity of 1.6 million tonnes per year. Sodra produces both softwood and hardwood pulp -90% softwood and 10% hardwood.
