Sodra reopens its Langasjo sawmill in Sweden. In 2017, just over SEK 100 million ($12.5 million) was invested in the facility to increase capacity and achieve more efficient production. The initiative has also created an additional 25 jobs, as the company said in the press release received by Lesprom Network.

The sawmill produces panelling and cross beams, but also painted products, and demand in this product category has been growing every year since 2013. The products are mainly delivered to the Netherlands and Sweden, two markets where pressure on construction timber is high.

“Market demand is high, and the investment has already generated positive results. The sawmill has been in full production with the new equipment since November 2017 and is performing according to plan,” said Jörgen Lindquist, President of the Södra Wood business area.
