Sweden’s stock volumes of roundwood and wood chips decreased by 6% in 2Q

Sweden’s total stocks of coniferous sawlogs, pulpwood and wood chips is estimated to 8.3 million m³ (cubic metres solid volume excluding bark) of 30 June 2016. This is a decrease by 6% compared with the same period last year, as Swedish Forest Agency reports.

Stock volumes of coniferous sawlogs is estimated to 2.7 million m³. Compared with the same period last year this is a decline by 10%. The stock volumes of coniferous sawlogs decreased in all wood balance regions with the exception of wood balance region 2 .The largest stock volume of 1.1 million m³ is in wood balance region 1, which is in the northern part of Sweden.

The total stocks of pulpwood amounted to 4.8 million m³ of 30 June 2016, a decrease by 4% compared to the 2Q 2015. Pulpwood stocks were distributed on the following assortments: 3 million m³ of mixed coniferous pulpwood, 0.7 million m³ of spruce pulpwood and 1 million m³ of broadleaved pulpwood. Broadleaved pulpwood increased by 18% compared to the same time last year.

The stock volumes of wood chips is estimated to 0.9 million m³. This is a decline by 4% compared to 30 June 2015.
