Statskog Meraker AS's properties in AS Meraker Brug cover approximately 1.2 million mål, of which more than 200,000 mål are productive forest. The properties are located in the municipalities of Meråker, Stjørdal, Malvik and Steinkjer. Prior to the purchase, Statskog owned 11.3 million dekar of state land in Mid-Norway; in total Statskog owns 59 million dekar, roughly one fifth of mainland Norway. Statskog is Norway's largest landowner and is wholly owned by the state through the Ministry of Agriculture and Food. The acquisition shifted Statskog's operational focus in Mid-Norway; to establish dialogue with local communities the company moved its regional office in Mid-Norway from Steinkjer to Meråker. "Brugetsgården" is now the administration centre for Statskog in Mid-Norway and the office of regional manager Arnhild Holstad. Operations of the acquired properties are being integrated into Statskog's ordinary activities, using national expertise while applying experience developed in AS Meraker Brug; the integration is ongoing and will take time. Existing hunting and fishing agreements will continue until they expire, and the company will not make hunting or fishing conditional on accommodation.
