In September, a total of 4.6 million cubic metres of roundwood was harvested for industrial use in Finland. Compared to last year's September, the removal volume was one-fifth or 1.3 million cubic metres lower. In January-September, a total of 42.7 million cubic metres of industrial wood was harvested. This removal volume was down 7% from the previous year and from the five-year average, according to the Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke).
Sawlogs accounted for 2.2 million cubic metres and pulpwood for 2.4 million cubic metres of the industrial roundwood removals.
Industrial roundwood removals from non-industrial private forests were 3.5 million cubic metres, down by 26% from the year before.
The felling volume in forest industry companies’ forests and state-owned forests was 1.1 million cubic metres, down by 4% from the year before.
Energywood removals totalled 496,000 cubic metres, with delimbed stems and whole trees comprising 42% of this amount.
