Craftsmen Hardwoods Inc. was founded in 1996. The company supplies hardwood and softwood lumber, including exotic and specialty items, from a climate-controlled warehouse and accepts orders of any quantity, from single boards to large volumes. The business serves woodworking and interior construction customers in southern Ontario and offers customer service and shipping. The owner, Rob Weber, began the enterprise after a spinal cord injury in the summer of 1996 when a friend and business acquaintance, Murray Martin of Mar-Span Home Hardware, suggested selling furniture-grade hardwood lumber; they established the business near Rob's hometown of Drayton.
