So you've just bought a new zinc planter, you've filled it with your new Roses, or Begonias or Geraniums, and like all plant owners you're wondering about watering your plants - as well as worrying about overwatering. Well you'll be glad to know that our planters are prepared for the plant owner with the generous pour, who is worried they may have drowned their plants. Read on to find out all about Aluzinc drainage, as well as how your troughs are prepared to handle it.
Firstly, let's ask the question - why is overwatering your plants bad? Well, overwatering your plants can lead to root rot, as the roots cannot get the oxygen they need, due to the overwatered soil, which could lead to the plants death. Overwatering can also lead to stunted growth, as well as attracting pests and insects. But our planters are designed to avoid that.
Our troughs have large volumes, which means that even if you accidently over water they can soak it up, and quickly absorb the water. Our troughs also have drainage holes, which allow the excess water to drain out of the bottom. So don't worry, your standard plants are fine in our planters. However, what happens if your planters are indoors, or you have highly water retentive plants?
Well, if your plants are highly water retentive, or indoors - how can you help ensure you don't encounter root rot. Well some solutions are pretty easy. If your planter is outside, and you're not going to be able to drain water fast enough - just add another drainage hole! Any drill or screwdriver can be knocked through the base of the planter, which will allow you to increase the drainage.
